Microsoft Store will not open

Reset the Store cache and check the most common Windows-side causes.

Before you start

  • Make sure Windows date, time and region are correct.
  • Check that Windows Update is not waiting for a restart.

Reset the Store cache

Press Windows + R, type wsreset.exe and select OK. A blank Command Prompt window may appear briefly; Microsoft Store should then open automatically.

Install Windows updates

Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates. Install available updates and restart if required.

Repair or reset Microsoft Store

Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Store > Advanced options. Try Repair first; if that fails, try Reset.

Check account and region

Open Microsoft Store and make sure you are signed in to the intended Microsoft account. Also verify Settings > Time & language > Language & region.
